Henry Creates as Late Goals Send Jefferson to 2026 CACC Final

The senior assisted on a pair of late finishes to give Jefferson the regulation victory

PHILADELPHIA (Nov. 4, 2026) – It took some late game dramatics, but the Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team secured its place in the CACC championship game with a 2-0 victory over fifth-seeded Chestnut Hill College on Wednesday at Ravenhill Field. The Rams extended their winning streak to 13 by way of their third-consecutive shutout.

The Griffins had the Rams well scouted for the game's first 45 minutes, and even beyond. Even so, Jefferson's best scoring chances throughout the game came on corner kicks. Finally, the Rams broke through in the 73rd minute on a corner kick off the talented foot of senior Sophia Henry (Deptford, N.J. / Deptford Township). Henry went on to assist on both Jefferson goals, but the go-ahead goal came on a ball that was unable to be handled by Chestnut Hill and instead found senior Dillan Sorino (Pennsauken, N.J. / Camden Catholic), the 2026 CACC Defensive Player of the Year for the winning touch.

Freshman Jalina Gonzalez (Fleetwood, Pa. / Fleetwood), the 2026 CACC Newcomer of the Year, bagged the insurance goal at 85 minutes off another nice dish from Henry, sealing the Rams' fate as a CACC finalist in 2026.

Following the scoreless opening half, Jefferson increased its attacking pressure with seven shots after the break. Henry struck the crossbar in the 62nd minute and finished with a team-high three attempts. Freshman Tessa Hughes (Warrington, Pa. / Central Bucks South) added two shots as the Rams finished with an 8-3 advantage in attempts and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks, the last of which they were finally able to break through with.

Freshman Ava Brochon (Bensalem, Pa. / The Pennington School) made one save across 90 minutes to earn the shutout. Even with the lack of early offense, the Rams' back line still limited Chestnut Hill to just a single shot on target, keeping the match scoreless until the late surge.

Head Coach Michelle Jaquette and the Rams will play third-seeded Georgian Court University in the CACC Championship game, set to be contested on the campus of the University of Wilmington on Saturday, Nov. 7. The Lions are coming off a penalty shootout win over No. 2 University of Bridgeport. As for the Rams, Saturday's game will be a rematch with Georgian Court from a tightly contested game at Ravenhill Field back in October. Senior forward Kyra Lesko (Pennsburg, Pa. / Upper Perkiomen) broke the 2-2 tie in the 85th minute in that game to keep Jefferson perfect in the CACC.
