MANCHESTER, N.H. (Sept. 4, 2026) – Two members of the Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team found the back of the net in a game that became the Rams' season opener at Saint Anselm College on Friday afternoon.
The Rams had a top-five foe in No. 3 West Chester University on the docket for the season opener, but that game went on to be postponed due to inclement weather. Instead, the defending CACC champions opened the season against a tricky Saint Anselm team on the road and managed to start fast. Freshman
Jalina Gonzalez (Fleetwood, Pa. / Fleetwood) opened scoring for the Rams in the 25th minute when she tipped the ball off a cross from classmate
Tessa Hughes (Warrington, Pa. / Central Bucks South). The Rams continued their scoring ways in the second half when junior
Jane DeVoll (Newark, Del. / Charter School of Wilmington) carried the ball toward the top of the box and fired a beautiful shot out of reach of the opposing goalkeeper to make it 2-0 in favor of Jefferson.
Saint Anselm brought offensive pressure throughout the game, however, with the Rams winning early on quality of chances as opposed to quantity. However, the Hawks were able to find some quality of their own with a late equalizer that resulted in a 2-2 draw. Junior
Carly Hayman (Pittsgrove, N.J. / A.P. Schalick) logged the full 90 minutes in net, stopping five Saint Anselm shots while she, along with the defense in front of her, staved off seven corner kicks from the host Hawks.

Michelle Jaquette and the Rams will look to leave New Hampshire with a victory when they head to Southern New Hampshire University on Sunday, Sept. 6.
