Freshman right-hander Jared Farbman (Philadelphia, Pa./Central HS; pictured) has earned Rookie of the Week honors from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for games played from May 5-11, 2008.  The announcement was made today in the league news release.

It marks the first CACC weekly award for the talented newcomer, who finished his first collegiate campaign with a sparkling 6-0 record, one save, an ERA of 2.89, 54 strikeouts (vs. just 29 bases-on-balls), and a league-leading three shutouts.

Last week, Farbman fired a complete-game shutout against Felician in his first CACC Tournament appearance at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Del.  He scattered five hits and fanned 10 Golden Falcon batters in the 13-0 victory.

In addition, left fielder JungMin Lee (Seoul, Korea/Sunrin) was noted with Honorable Mention by the CACC for his efforts in the final week of the season.  The senior hit .416 in three CACC Tournament games with five runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases.  In Thursday's postseason opener vs. Felician, Lee equaled a league tournament single-game mark with four runs scored, as the Rams' lead-off hitter keyed the team's 13-run outburst, going 4-for-5 on the day with a stolen base and a pair of RBI to boot.

Both Lee and Farbman were also named to the CACC All-Tournament Team for their performances in Delaware last Thursday and Saturday.

The Rams finished the 2008 season 22-22; after being 2-12 through March. They went 20-10 in April and May and captured a share of the CACC regular-season title, their best performance since the 1999 team went 20-18 and competed in the NYCAC tournament. Philadelphia also was ranked seventh in the official NCAA Division II Northeast Region Rankings heading into last week's games. It was their maiden appearance in the poll.

The program was also honored with the CACC's Team Sportsmanship Award, in voting conducted among the league's coaches last week prior to the opening of the conference tournament.
