Quaranta tabbed CACC baseball player of the week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A big weekend at the plate allowed Philadelphia University junior Brandon Quaranta (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) to take home the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) player of the week award Monday.

In a three-game weekend series at Georgia College, Quaranta drilled three home runs as he went 4-for-10, scored five times, and knocked in five runs.

After going 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in the March 3 8-4 loss, Quaranta exploded for four hits in eight at-bats on March 4. He hit a three-run home run, walked and scored twice in the Rams' 13-6 game one loss. In game two, Quaranta was 3-for-5, including a pair of solo home runs, in a 14-5 setback.

Quaranta has recorded a hit in six of the Rams' seven games this season. He is leading the team with a .500 batting average, 13 hits, 12 RBI, six home runs, and 11 runs scored. Quaranta has four multi-RBI games and three games with at least three hits.

In the CACC, Quaranta is ranked first in RBI, home runs, and total bases (33); second in slugging percentage (1.269), third in batting average (.500) and hits; and sixth in on-base percentage (.581).

Philadelphia (0-7) will play its first home games of the season on Wednesday, March 8 when the Rams host Le Moyne in a non-conference doubleheader on Alumni Field at noon.
