SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) baseball team (3-9) dropped an afternoon doubleheader to the Shippensburg Raiders on the road on Saturday. The Rams lost the first seven-inning game, 20-0, before falling in the second nine-inning contest, 16-2.
GAME ONE – L, 20-0
The Rams were one-hit in the first game. Brandon Quaranta managed the lone hit, a single in the top of the first.
The Raiders scored five runs through the first five innings but poured on 15 in the bottom of the sixth to win 20-0.
Gunnar Hayes started the game for Jefferson and last 5.0 innings with two strikeouts.
GAME TWO – L, 16-2
Jefferson also dropped the second game of the doubleheader, 16-2. The Rams used six pitchers in the outing.
Jefferson scraped together two runs in the loss. David Saenz notched an RBI single in the fourth before Arturo Figueroa homered in the sixth. Figueroa went 2-for-2 off the bench as the only Ram with a multi-hit game on the day.
Jefferson notched nine hits in the 16-2 loss.
Jefferson Baseball returns to action on Tuesday, March 13 and Wednesday, March 14 at Winston-Salem State.
