NORRISTOWN, Pa. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) baseball team (8-19, 5-8 CACC) suffered two 7-3 losses at the hands of Chestnut Hill (11-13, 7-7 CACC) on Wednesday afternoon from Latshaw-McCarthy Field in Norristown, Pa.
WEDNESDAY GAME ONE – L, 7-3 – 9 INNINGS
Jefferson scored three early runs against the Griffins in game one but Chestnut Hill was able to get to the Rams' pitching staff to score seven unanswered runs.
Chris Smith singled in Richard Joa to put the Rams on the board in the top of the first. Brandon Quaranta doubled down the left field line in the third to bring Joa home again before Timothy Brodhag scored Quaranta on an RBI groundout to put Jefferson up, 3-0. The RBI double for Quaranta came as his 100th career run batted in.
Gunnar Hayes (L, 2-3) started for Jefferson and pitched 5.0 innings with five strikeouts, three walks, two hits and two runs.
Chestnut Hill got a run back on an infield hit in the fourth. Hayes pitched into the sixth, giving up a leadoff double and a walk before being relieved. A sacrifice fly brought in another run to cut the Rams' lead to one, 3-2.
The Griffins then scored three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth to secure the lead and win.

WEDNESDAY GAME TWO – L, 7-3 – 7 INNINGS
Chestnut Hill jumped on the Rams in game two, scoring four runs in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth to go up 7-0 before Jefferson scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh in a late-rally attempt.
Quaranta hit an RBI single in the sixth to cut the lead to 7-1. A single by Chase Fike in the seventh followed by a single from Joa brought home two late runs, but it was not enough as Jefferson fell, 7-3.
Jefferson Baseball returns to action on the road at Felician on Friday, April 13 at 2 p.m. for a conference doubleheader.
