Baseball Splits Conference Doubleheader at Concordia on Saturday

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) baseball team (14-23, 11-12 CACC) split a conference road doubleheader against the Concordia (N.Y.) Clippers (17-18, 13-9 CACC) on Saturday afternoon from Bronxville, N.Y. The Rams dropped game one, 5-4, before the bats heated up in game two for the 10-4 win.

Jefferson fell in game one, 5-4, from the Clipper Baseball Field.

The Rams took a 2-0 in the top of the second behind a bases loaded walk from Arturo Figueroa and a sac fly from Matt McGee.

Concordia got one in the bottom half of the inning before scoring three in the third to take a 4-2 advantage. The Clippers tacked on to that edge with an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh, 5-2.

Jefferson rallied in the ninth but could not complete the comeback. With two outs and a runner on first, Chris Smith doubled home Michael Taffe, 5-3. On the next at bat, Brandon Quaranta singled in Smith to get the Rams within one, 5-4. A called strikeout ended the Rams' threat as Concordia took the first one.
