EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) baseball team (0-2) dropped a pair of games at East Stroudsburg (4-0) to open the 2019 season on Friday.
The Warriors took game one, 9-0 and had a 14-4 victory in the nightcap.
GAME ONE – L, 9-0 – 7 INNINGS
ESU jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a three-run double and a sacrifice fly. The Warriors added three more runs in the second on a three-run blast to left field.
Meanwhile, the Rams' offense could not figure out the East Stroudsburg pitching staff, scattering six hits. Jefferson had just two runners reach third base during the contest and the Rams' best scoring opportunity came in the sixth. They had the bases loaded with one out but a pop out and strikeout ended the frame.
The Warriors added insurance runs in the fourth and sixth innings. Jefferson sophomore Patrick Hohlfeld took the decision on the mound.

GAME TWO – L, 14-4 – 7 INNINGS
East Stroudsburg got its bats going early again, posting three runs in the opening inning, seven in the second and one in the third. The Rams broke through with four runs in the fifth. Figueroa drew a bases-loaded walk to score Robert Wood and Timothy Brodhag cleared the bases with a three-run double. The Warriors added a run in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Jefferson Baseball takes on No. 21 West Chester for a pair of games on Monday, February 25 at the MSI Sports Village in Aston, Pa. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
