PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) baseball team (0-10) was swept by Le Moyne (7-7) in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The Dolphins won the opener, 10-7 and they had a 20-4 victory in game two.
GAME ONE – L, 10-7
The Rams got on the board first in the opening frame when senior Timothy Brodhag drove in sophomore Arturo Figueroa with a single up the middle. Le Moyne took the lead in the fifth with five runs and added one in the fourth for a 6-1 advantage. Jefferson cut the deficit to 6-2 when sophomore Chase Fike sent a solo blast over the fence in right center.
The Dolphins posted a four-run sixth before the Rams pushed across five runs in the bottom of the inning. Figueroa drew a bases-loaded walk then junior Robert Wood cleared the bases with a three-run triple to right center. Wood came home on a base hit by Brodhag. Le Moyne was able to retire the Rams in order in the seventh to secure the win.
GAME TWO – L, 20-4
Le Moyne recorded five runs in the first, three in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and six in the sixth. Jefferson got on the board in the third as sophomore Efrain Santiago plated senior Christopher Lorenzo with a double to center. Junior Austin Torres homered to left center in the fourth for the Rams' second run. Jefferson tallied two in the sixth via a two-run double by sophomore Cole Kriger.
The Rams travel to Salem (W.Va.) for a three-game series on March 15-17.
