With the seconds ticking down in regulation, PhilaU senior forward Mike Yocum (Dresher, PA/ Episcopal Academy) attempted a game-winning half court shot- but it wouldn't fall as the contest headed into overtime locked at 50-50. Yocum finished with a game-high 15 rebounds and nine points for the Rams.
In the first OT, PhilaU freshman guard Jim Connolly (Harleysville, PA/ Souderton Area) tried for heroics with a three-ball attempt, but that too would not drop to send it into another extra period at 56 all. Connolly had nine points and four boards on the night.
In the second and final extra stanza, PhilaU went on a 6-0 run to lead 62-56. LU would knock down a trey to claw back, but the Ram's Frederick hit his second three of the night to put PhilaU ahead for good and hang on for the 71-62 non-conference win.
