Caldwell, NJ- It did not take long for the Philadelphia University Rams (17-6, 9-1 CACC) to dismantle the Caldwell College Cougars (3-18, 2-11 CACC) 71-44 at the Newman Center on Sunday afternoon.  The win- number 897 for PhilaU coaching legend Herb Magee- was helped by PhilaU senior guard Russell Frederick's (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall) 22 points, five assists and two steals.

PhilaU flat out dominated CC, shooting 44.4% from field goal range and forcing the Cougars into 21 turnovers.

The Rams sped out to a 10-0 lead in the first two minute of play, spurred by freshman guard Jim Connolly's (Harleysville, PA/ Souderton Area) trey at 18:09.  Connolly had nine points (all threes) on the day.

The Cougars would get within five (15-10) at 13:25 on a Malcolm Austin three-ball, but PhilaU went on another run to control the game's momentum.   Austin led his squad with 17 points and four rebounds.

PhilaU led 37-17 at the half.

It was much of the same in the second half, as PhilaU senior forward Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) score eight of his total 17 points in the second stanza.  He also pulled down seven boards for the Rams.

A jumper from PhilaU junior guard Ishmawiyl McFadden (Philadelphia, PA/ Simon Gratz) with 33 seconds to go gave the Rams their biggest lead of the day (29) and the visitors completed the 71-44 conference victory.

The Rams take the hardwood next on Tuesday (2/9) vs. Chestnut Hill College at the Gallagher Athletic Center at 8 p.m.
