Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University men's basketball team (5-4, 2-1 CACC) fell 75-56 to the Wilmington University Wildcats (5-4, 3-1 CACC) on Sunday afternoon at the Gallagher Athletic Center.
The 'Cats earned their second win ever over the Rams, as PhilaU boasts a 13-2 all-time record vs. WilmU.
WilmU's Corye Payton led all scorers with 17 points, while PhilaU junior forward Corey Francisco had a team-high 12 points.
PhilaU trailed for the majority of the contest, as the 'Cats shot 53% to the Ram's 38% from the field. The home squad also was disadvantaged on the glass, 27-36.
WilmU held onto a 36-30 halftime lead, going on a 10-0 run deep into the second half to take a comfortable lead. PhilaU got double-digit scoring from sophomore guard Jim Connolly (11 points) and junior forward J.J. Gundry (10 points).
The Rams return to action after the holidays, heading north to Assumption College for a two-game showdown vs. top regional competition. On Wednesday (12/29) the Rams face Stonehill College at 1 p.m. and then play host Assumption on Thursday (12/30) at 3 p.m.
