Rutherford, NJ- The Philadelphia University Rams (8-5, 3-1 CACC) used solid free-throw shooting to outlast the Felician College Falcons (5-8, 1-4 CACC) 77-73 at Job Gym on Saturday afternoon. PhilaU was led by sophomore guard Jim Connolly with 23 points, four assists and three boards.
FC's Devon Young led all scorers with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
The Rams shot 82% from the charity stripe (to FC's 68%) and also boasted a better field goal percentage (53%-FC's 36%) in the contest.
PhilaU held a seven point lead (15-8) early on, but FC's Young and Suquan Gary (20 points) chipped the Ram lead to even it at 37-37 at the break.
The second half was all maroon and gray, as the Rams held their largest lead of 12 points at 7:19. PhilaU junior forward Corey Francisco chipped in 21 points and 12 rebounds while PhilaU sophomore guard Ed DiRugeris added 12 digits in the victory.
Hitting the hardwood at Holy Family University next, the Rams will play on Tuesday (1/11) at 8 p.m. on the road.
