PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – All five Philadelphia University starters hit double-figures in points as the Rams defeating visiting Felician College, 76-55, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Saturday afternoon in the Gallagher Center.
Philadelphia improves to 17-8 overall and 12-4 against the CACC. The Rams secured a the second seed in the southern division and a first-round home game on Saturday, Feb. 25 with the victory. Felician is now 7-18 overall and 4-14 in conference play.
The Rams close out the regular season Tuesday, Feb. 21 with a road contest against Holy Family University at 8 p.m.
Temi Adebayo led the balanced offensive attack with 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting, which included five dunks, and was strong defensively with nine blocked shots, one away from his career-high. Nick Christian Stephen Griffin each added 15 points and five assists. Christian also contributed three blocks and three steals. Nick Schlitzer recorded 15 points and Jim Connolly had 13. Schlitzer and Connolly each had a game-high seven rebounds.
David Williamson paced the Golden Falcons with 18 points in a reserve role. John Tello had 11 points and Tajric Green pitched in with 10 points and three steals.
Philadelphia shot 64.3 percent (18-of-28) in the first half, which helped the team take a 41-20 lead at the intermission. The Rams connected on half of their shots (15-of-30) in the second half and finished the game at 56.9 percent (33-of-58). Felician shot 31.7 percent (20-of-63) in the contest. Philadelphia was better on the glass by a 37-33 margin.
The Rams, who never trailed in the contest, went on a 19-2 run, led by five points from Connolly, to take a 27-9 lead with 8:45 left in the first half. Philadelphia opened the second run with an 8-2 burst, capped by a Christian dunk at the 15:38 mark, to extend its halftime lead to a game-high 27 points (49-22).
