NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman guard Andre Gibbs (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) was selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's basketball rookie of the week by the conference office on Monday.
Gibbs was the team's leading scorer in both of Philadelphia's contests last week, which resulted in a 1-1 record. He averaged 20.0 points, on 50 percent shooting, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.
Against Holy Family, Gibbs netted 18 points and grabbed three rebounds in a 65-62 loss on Dec. 4. Four days later, Gibbs went for a career-best 22 points to lead the Rams to a 67-58 triumph at Nyack. He also posted a career-high with eight rebounds.
So far this season, Gibbs is averaged 14.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. He is leading the conference in minutes per game (38.6), fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2), sixth in free throw percentage (86.2), and 11th in assists (30).
Philadelphia (6-2, 3-1 CACC) travels to Adelphi to take on the host Panthers in the first day of the Adelphi Holiday Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 3:30 p.m.
