NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore forward Peter Alexis (Wilkes Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) took home the first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's basketball player of the week award of the 2013-14 season on Monday.
In two games during the East Region Classic at Holy Family, averaged 23.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and shot 83.3 percent (20-of-24) from the field. Alexis recorded 24 points, on 11-of-12 shooting, and six rebounds in Philadelphia's season-opening 73-69 victory over the College of Saint Rose on Nov. 9. One day later in a 66-62 loss to Assumption, he had 22 points and 12 rebounds.
Alexis—a five-time CACC rookie of the week and All-CACC third time pick last season—is Philadelphia's first conference player of the week since Jim Connolly on Jan. 2, 2012.
Philadelphia (1-1) opens CACC play against visiting Georgian Court on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m.
