PHILADELPHIA – Philadelphia University sophomore forward Peter Alexis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) was selected to the 2013-14 Capital One Division II Academic All-District 1 Men's Basketball Team by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
A psychology major with a 3.57 grade point average, Alexis advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. The Capital One Academic All-America Team— made up of first-, second-, and third-team honorees—will be selected in February.
Alexis is leading the Rams in scoring (19.0 points per game), rebounding (9.6 per game), field goal percentage (60.8 percent), field goals made (161), blocks (30), and minutes per game (38.0). In the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), he is first in field goals made, second in rebounding and field goal percentage, third in minutes per game, fourth in scoring, and eighth in blocked shots. Alexis sits third in Division II in field goals made and sixth in minutes per game.
To be eligible for Academic All‐America consideration, a student‐athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution, and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Philadelphia (15-5, 9-2 CACC) travels to Caldwell for a CACC contest on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 3 p.m.
