KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Philadelphia University sophomore forward Peter Alexis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) was tabbed for the 2014 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Men's Basketball All-District second team for the East Region on Wednesday. The voting for the team was conducted by the NABC members in the East Region.
This is Alexis' fourth postseason award as he was named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference first team, Daktronics All-East Region first team, and the City of Basketball Love Division II All-Area first team earlier this year.
A three-time CACC player of the week and two-time CACC defensive player of the week, Alexis finished second in the conference in minutes per game (37.5), field goal shooting (60.4 percent), field goals made (246), and double-doubles (15); third in rebounding (9.5 per game); and fifth in scoring (18.2 points per game) and blocks (57). He led the team in every category.
Alexis scored his 1,000th-career point on March 15 against Franklin Pierce in the opening round of the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament.
Philadelphia went 25-7 during the 2013-14 season, won the CACC regular season and tournament championships, and reached the NCAA Tournament for the 33rd time in program history.
