PHILADELPHIA – For the second straight season, Philadelphia University junior forward Peter Alexis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) earned a place on the Capital One Division II Academic All-District 1 Men's Basketball Team. The team, which was released on Thursday, was voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America District 1 members.
Alexis, a psychology major with a 3.64 grade point average, will move on to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. The Capital One Academic All-America Team, made up of first-, second-, and third-team honorees, is released on Feb. 25.
Last year, Alexis was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Winter All-Academic Team and the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Basketball Team.
Alexis is ranked second in the CACC in blocks (42) and field goal shooting (61.6 percent), third in rebounds (10.2 per game), fifth in minutes per game (38.3), eighth in made field goals (114), and 11th in scoring (14.6 points per game). In Division II, Alexis sits eighth in double-doubles (11), 13th in rebounds, and 19th in blocks.
To be eligible for Academic All‐America consideration, a student‐athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution, and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Philadelphia (14-6, 8-3 CACC) welcomes Post to the Gallagher Center for a CACC clash on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 4 p.m. Head coach Herb Magee will go for his 1,000th career victory.
