NEW HAVEN, Conn – Philadelphia University senior forward Peter Alexis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) was tabbed as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball co-player of the week on Monday.
Alexis—who shares this week's honor with Wilmington University's Tyaire Ponzo-Meek—is being recognized by the conference for the CACC-best third time this season.
In a 77-73 overtime loss to No. 24 Saint Anselm on New Year's Eve, Alexis played all 45 minutes and posted a season-high 24 points—on 12-of-18 shooting, 10 rebounds, three blocked shots, and two steals.
He is leading the conference field goal shooting (61.7 percent), minutes per game (40.6), blocks (39), and double-doubles (6). Alexis is averaging 19.3 points per game, which is second in the CACC, and 8.5 rebounds per game, ranking seventh.
Philadelphia opens the 2016 schedule with a CACC contest against visiting Concordia (N.Y.) on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m.
