NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After averaging a double-double and reaching a career milestone, Philadelphia University senior forward Peter Alexis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) was selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's basketball player of the week for the fourth time this season by the conference on Monday.
Alexis—who leads the conference with his four player of the week selections—averaged 20.5 points—on 62.1 percent shooting—10.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 2.0 assists in a pair of victories against CACC competition.
In the Rams' 80-49 triumph over Felician on Jan. 9, Alexis poured in a game-high 23 points, grabbed 11 rebounds—including the 1,000th rebound of his career, blocked three shots, and dished out two assists. Alexis became the ninth player in program history to record 1,000 career rebounds and the seventh with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
He opened the week with 18 points, nine rebounds, two blocks, and two assists as Philadelphia knocked off Concordia (N.Y.) on Jan. 6, 78-67.
Alexis is leading the CACC in field goal percentage (61.8), blocks (42), minutes per game (39:56), and double doubles (7). He ranks second in scoring with 19.5 points per game and fifth in rebounding with 8.7 per game. Nationally, Alexis sits first in minutes per game, fifth in blocks, 15th in double doubles, and 21st in shooting.
Philadelphia (12-4, 6-2 CACC) is at Caldwell for a CACC contest on Monday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.
