PHILADELPHIA – For the third straight year, Philadelphia University men's basketball forward Peter Alexis' (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) athletic and academic prowess have earned him a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 Men's Basketball Team, which was unveiled on Thursday.
With his selection to the All-District Team, Alexis moves to the national ballot to attempt to become Philadelphia University's first two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American. In 2015, Alexis was a third-team CoSIDA Academic All-America selection.
A starter in all 24 games this season, Alexis is putting up 19.8 points per game—on 62.5 percent shooting, 8.6 rebounds per game, 55 blocks, and 20 assists. A four-time Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference player of the week, Alexis is pacing the conference in field goal percentage; second in scoring, blocks, minutes per game (38.8), and made field goals (193); and fourth in rebounding.
On Jan. 9, Alexis grabbed his 1,000th-career rebound in an 80-49 victory over Felician and became the seventh player in program history with 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.
In the classroom, Alexis earned a perfect 4.00 grade-point average in the Community and Trauma Counseling graduate program during the fall semester. Alexis graduated with an undergraduate degree in psychology with a 3.61 GPA last spring.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America program honors student-athletes who are starters or key reserves who maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale at his/her current institution and are at least a sophomore athletically and academically.
