2016-17 Philadelphia U. Men's Basketball Schedule

PHILADELPHIA – Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Herb Magee will begin his 50th season as the head coach of the Philadelphia University men's basketball program on Saturday, Nov. 12 when the Rams face the University of the District of Columbia in the Gallagher Center. The game will be the first of 28 on the 2016-17 Rams' schedule.

The Rams are slated to play nine non-conference games during the upcoming season, two against 2016 NCAA Tournament opponents.

Four of the nine non-conference games will take place in the Gallagher Center. In addition to the contest with the Firebirds, Philadelphia will host Franklin Pierce on the opening weekend of the season (Nov. 13). NYIT (Nov. 27) and St. Thomas Aquinas (Jan. 18) are also scheduled to make a trip to Philadelphia. St. Thomas Aquinas reached the second round of the NCAA East Region Tournament last season.

Philadelphia will go on the road to face Molloy (Nov. 20), Kutztown (Nov. 29), and American International (Dec. 30). Kutztown made it to last year's NCAA Tournament Atlantic Region final. For the weekend of Dec. 17-18, Philadelphia will head to the College of Saint Rose to play in the East Region Classic. The Rams are slated to take on Assumption and the host Golden Knights.

Conference play consists of 19 games—10 away, 9 home. Philadelphia will have a home-and-home series against the other six teams in the southern division: Chestnut Hill, Georgian Court, Goldey-Beacom, Holy Family, University of the Sciences, and Wilmington (Del.). Against the seventh northern division teams, the Rams will host three of them (Post, Dominican, and Caldwell) and travel to the other four (Bloomfield, Felician, Nyack, and Concordia).

Philadelphia opens CACC play on Nov. 16 when the team heads to Delaware to face Goldey-Beacom. The Rams' first conference home game comes on Dec. 1 against USciences.

The regular season ends on Feb. 21 with a CACC match up against Wilmington in the Gallagher Center.

Philadelphia recorded its 33rd 20+-win season under Magee in 2015-16, going 23-9 overall. The Rams made the NCAA Tournament field for the 35th time in program history.

District of Columbia: Nov. 12 – Gallagher Center

Philadelphia goes into its season-opener against UDC on a three-game winning streak against the Firebirds, including a 77-64 win last season…The Rams lead the all-time series 4-1, 3-0 in games played in the Gallagher Center.

Franklin Pierce: Nov. 13 – Gallagher Center
The Rams picked up their first win against the Ravens a season ago with an 80-75 overtime victory in the season opener…It was the first time that the two teams had met in the Gallagher Center…Philadelphia is now 1-3 all-time against Franklin Pierce, including two NCAA Tournament losses (2012, 2014).

Goldey-Beacom: Nov. 16 – Joseph West Jones Center and Feb. 1 – Gallagher Center
Philadelphia has won eight straight games against Goldey-Beacom…The Rams are 17-6 against the Lightning, 11-1 in Philadelphia…Philadelphia has won four consecutive games at Goldey-Beacom to improve its record in Delaware to 6-5…Goldey-Beacom's last win against Philadelphia came on Feb. 9, 2012.

Molloy: Nov. 20 – Quealy Gymansium
Philadelphia is on a nine-game winning streak against Molloy…The Rams are 10-3 at Molloy, including wins in the last four meetings…The Rams lead the all-time series 24-6…The Lions' last win against the Rams came on Dec. 3, 2002.

NYIT: Nov. 27 – Gallagher Center
The former New York Collegiate Athletic Conference rivals are meeting for the first time since Feb. 21, 2005—an 87-54 loss at NYIT…Philadelphia has the series advantage 22-6…The Rams' last win in the series came on Jan. 20, 2005—an 88-68 win in Philadelphia.

Kutztown: Nov. 29 – Keystone Arena
The Rams and Golden Bears will square off for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons, the 2009-10 season was the exception…The last time the teams played at Kutztown, the Golden Bears earned a 75-72 win on Nov. 25, 2014…Philadelphia leads the series 26-8.

University of the Sciences: Dec. 1 – Gallagher Center and Feb. 7 – Bobby Morgan Arena

The teams are meeting for the first time since the Yellow Jackets defeated the Rams in the NCAA Tournament on March 14, 2015…Philadelphia leads the all-time series 3-2, but AIC has won the last two games.

Bloomfield: Jan 4 – The Gym
