Men's basketball powers past Georgian Court 82-68

PHILADELPHIA – After falling behind 2-0 to visiting Georgian Court, the Philadelphia University men's basketball team ran off 15 straight points and never looked back as the Rams picked up an 82-68 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory Tuesday night in the Gallagher Center.

Georgian Court took its first and only lead of the night when Keith Hughes made a right-handed layup just 12 seconds into the contest. Then, it was all Philadelphia as Jordan DeCicco (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) scored eight of his career-high 25 points during the 15-0 run that spanned 3:10. The Rams made six of the seven shot attempts, including two successfully DeCicco 3-pointers, while the Lions were 0-for-4 with four turnovers.

Kaison Randolph (Trenton, N.J./Pennington Prep), who poured in 19 points, hit two free throws with 7:07 left in the half to widen the Philadelphia (6-3, 3-1 CACC) margin to 35-12. After Georgian Court got back within 44-29, DeCicco knocked down a 3-pointer and Randolph hit a 15-footer in the final 44 seconds of the half to put Philadelphia up 20 (49-29) at the break.

The Rams shot 63.0 percent (17-of-27), 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from 3-point range, in the opening half. Philadelphia was also 10-of-15 from the free throw line, while Georgian Court was unable to get to the stripe.

In the second half, Kylan Guerra (White Plains, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) hit a pair of free throws with 8:27 left to extend the lead to a game-high 26 points (74-48). Georgian Court hit three of its last four shots to end the game on an 8-2 run.

Andre Gibbs (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) shot 8-of-12 from the floor to finish with a season-high 18 points.

Juwuan Carter paced Georgian Court—who shot 45.5 percent (25-of-55) overall—with 20 points, while Nikola Vujovic added 10.

Philadelphia finished the contest shooting 51.8 percent (29-of-56) from the field and 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from behind the arc. The Rams are 3-0 when they shoot 50 percent or better overall.

The Rams will play their next six games away from the Gallagher Center, starting with a CACC battle at Chestnut Hill on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m.
