PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's basketball team will play the Temple Owls on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. from the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pa. The news was announced by Jefferson and Temple on Tuesday afternoon.
All ticket sales from the game will be donated to One America Appeal to benefit those impacted by the recent hurricanes that hit Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico.
"It is a tremendous opportunity for our team," said Jefferson Head Coach Herb Magee, entering his 51st season with 1,053 career wins. "Coach Dunphy and I have been friends for a long time. We talked about playing one day and that time is now. We're looking forward to it, especially as we begin our new era as the Jefferson Rams. Being able to provide aid to those impacted by the recent natural disasters makes this game that much more special."
Tickets for the charity exhibition game will be $10 (reserved seating). Pre-sale starts on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. Tickets are available online CLICK HERE or by calling the Temple Ticket Office at (215) 204-TIXX. Jefferson students will be granted free admission with a current Jefferson student ID card.
"When the opportunity presented itself to play an exhibition game to raise money for the people suffering from the recent hurricanes in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico, we knew right away that we needed to be a part of it," said Temple Head Coach Fran Dunphy. "I called my good friend, Herb Magee, one of the most respected men in the business, and he felt the same way. This gives our fans a rare opportunity to see our programs compete while also helping out those in need."
The Rams are 3-8 against Temple all time with the three wins coming in Magee's tenure. The teams met four times in the 1920s and twice in the 1950s with Temple winning six matchups. The game was renewed in the 1970s with Coach Magee at the helm of the Rams. Magee is 3-2 against the Owls, winning the last two matchups back on Feb. 3, 1975 and Jan. 17, 1976.
41 years, nine months and 23 days will have passed since the last matchup back in 1976.

About One American Appeal
The One America Appeal is a joint appeal that was originally launched by all five living former American Presidents to encourage their fellow citizens to support recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey — which inundated the Texas Gulf Coast with unprecedented flooding. This special appeal has been expanded to include areas most affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. All donations will go to help victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Hurricane Irma in Florida, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In Texas, monies will go to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund focusing on the greater Houston region, and the Rebuild Texas Fund assisting communities across the state. In Florida, monies will go to the Florida Disaster Fund, which is the state's official private fund to assist the state's communities as they respond to and recover from destructive storms. In the Caribbean, donations will be distributed to Unidos Por Puerto Rico launched by the office of First Lady Beatriz Rosselló together with private sector coalition; and the Fund for the Virgin Islands which was established 25 years ago by the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands for relief efforts.
