Jefferson Men’s Basketball Picked First in CACC South Preseason Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's basketball was picked to finish first in the CACC South Division on Wednesday afternoon. The 2017-18 polls were decided upon by the 14 coaching staffs in the conference. The new was announced by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Office.

Jefferson earned 98 points and 14 first-place votes to top the South Division while Goldey-Beacom (70) and USciences (66) rounded out the top three. Bloomfield was picked first in the North Division with 98 points and 14 first-place votes.

Last season, the Rams went 21-9 including 16-3 in conference before falling in the CACC Semifinals. Kaison Randolph returns for his senior season after being named to the All-CACC First Team as a junior. Kylan Guerra will look to build off his freshman campaign, which saw him named the CACC Rookie of the Year.

Jefferson is led by Naismith Hall of Fame coach Herb Magee, who has an overall record of 1053-428 (.716).

On July 1, 2017, Philadelphia University integrated with Thomas Jefferson University to become Jefferson. After 50 years as the coach for Philadelphia, Coach Magee begins his 51st season with the program in 2017-18.

The men's season begins with a three-game weekend in southern California against Concordia (CA), Point Loma and Palm Beach Atlantic in the 2017 Sports Anaheim DII Tip-Off Classic at Santiago Canyon College in Orange, Calif. The first game is scheduled against Concordia (CA) on Friday, Nov. 3 at 11:30 p.m. ET (8:30 p.m. PT).
