Randolph Reaches 1000 Career Points as Men’s Basketball Downs Bridgeport, 103-81

PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's basketball team (4-4) defeated the Bridgeport Purple Knights (5-1) on Sunday afternoon from the Gallagher Center by a 103-81 final.

The victory was highlighted by senior Kaison Randolph who became the 55th player in program history to reach 1000 career points. Randolph made a layup with 1:41 left in the second half to take him to 1001 career points. He was fouled on the play and converted the three-point play to finish with a game- and season-high 26 points and 1002 career points. The senior shot 8-of-11 from the floor and 8-of-11 from the free-throw line. He also grabbed five rebounds, dished out five assists and notched three blocks.

The 103 points came as the first 100-point game (and 100-point game in regulation) for the Rams since the squad defeated Mercy by a 101-42 final back on January 4, 2009.

Sophomore Josh Bradanese finished with 20 points on the day on 7-of-14 shooting including 3-of-9 from three-point range. The sophomore also grabbed 12 boards.

Freshman Alexander Gorton and senior Yevgen Sakhniuk both recorded 19 points each in the win. Sakhniuk also notched 12 rebounds.

Sophomore Kylan Guerra had 15 points on 5-of-5 shooting and seven assists in the effort.

Jefferson led 49-31 at the end of the first half. Randolph led all scorers with 14 points at the break while Guerra had 11. The Rams shot 57.1-percent from the field while the Purple Knights were limited to 31 points on 35.0-percent shooting. Bridgeport's only lead of the came in the opening minutes at 3-0. After going up 5-3, the Rams never lost the lead from there.

Jefferson came out hotter in the second half, shooting 63.3-percent on 19-of-30 from the floor to reach triple digits in the 22-point victory. The largest lead for Jefferson was 26 with 6:39 remaining the second half when Bradanese made a three to make it 91-65.

The Purple Knights came into the game averaging 94.2 points per game and a 5-0 record.

Jefferson Men's Basketball returns to action from the Gallagher Center on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. against Kutztown.
