KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Seniors Kylan Guerra and DeVaughn Mallory were named to the NABC East All-District Team on Monday and Herb Magee was selected the District Coach of the Year for the fifth time. Guerra earned first team honors while Mallory was a member of the second team.
KYLAN GUERRA – NABC EAST ALL-DISTRICT FIRST TEAM
Guerra was previously named the CACC Player of the Year and was on the D2CCA All-East Region and All-CACC first teams. He ranked in the top ten in the conference in several categories: first in assist/turnover ratio (3.3), second in assists (5.7), third in steals (2.0), fifth in three-point field goal percentage (41.3), seventh in three-pointers (66) and ninth in scoring (15.6). Guerra was one of just three players in Division II to average 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals this season. Guerra had seven 20-point games and three contests with double-digit assists. The White Plains, N.Y. native became just the second player in Rams history to record 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists in a career.
DEVAUGHN MALLORY – NABC EAST ALL-DISTRICT SECOND TEAM
Mallory was a First Team All-CACC selection. He was third in the conference in scoring (18.2) and rebounding (9.8) and sixth in field goal percentage (53.2) and free throw percentage (84.6). His 14 double-doubles were the most in the CACC and tied for 14th in Division II. The Smryna, Del. native reached 30 points three times, including a career-high 31 twice. Mallory earned CACC Player of the Week honors twice and was a member of the CACC Honor Roll five times.
HERB MAGEE – NABC EAST DISTRICT COACH OF THE YEAR
Magee previously earned District Coach of the Year honors in 1971, 1973, 1989 and 1993. He led the Rams to a 27-4 record, the most wins since 2009-10 and the highest winning percentage since 1993-94. Jefferson was ranked as high as seventh in the nation during the season, the best since 1995. The Rams made the NCAA Tournament for the 31st time under Magee and won their second straight CACC South Division title with an 18-1 conference record. Jefferson's 18-game win streak during the season was its best since 1993-94. Magee earned his 1,100th career victory versus Kutztown on November 19, becoming only the second coach in NCAA history to reach the mark (Mike Krzyzewski). He was also named the CACC Coach of the Year.
