MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's soccer team (9-2-1) defeated the No. 22 Millersville Marauders (8-3-1) by a final of 4-1 on Tuesday evening in Millersville, Pa.
The Rams are undefeated over their last nine contests, going 8-0-1 over that time.
Jefferson scored four times, including the first two of redshirt junior Dermot Hughes' career, in the win while keeping the Marauders to just one.
Sophomore Myles-Jordan Senior-Campbell started the scoring in the 15th minute on Tuesday when he went one-on-one with the Millersville keeper after playing a long ball, 1-0.
Hughes gave the Rams a 2-0 edge heading into halftime when redshirt junior James Thornton made a pass from the left side to the center of the box for Hughes, who took the shot over the keeper in the 39th minute.
Millersville got one back in the 55th minute when Jacob Gosselin chipped a shot for the score after Ryan Phelps led him with a bicycle kick pass up the middle.
Jefferson extended the lead back to two in the 66th minute when sophomore Rashaan Robe danced around the left side before shooting to the far post for his second goal of the season. Fellow sophomore Musa Kalombe earned an assist on the play, 3-1.
Hughes notched his second of the match while Kalombe grabbed his second assist of the evening in the 72nd minute to help put the match out of reach for the Marauders. Kalombe led Hughes with a through ball to the left side before Hughes took a shot to the bottom right side of the goal, 4-1.
Senior Ben Sauer (W, 9-2-1) made six saves in the win while facing 17 total shots.
Jefferson Men's Soccer now hosts No. 8 LIU Post in a nonconference matchup on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m. from Ravenhill Field.
