PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's soccer team (9-3-1) dropped a nonconference match to No. 8 LIU Post (9-0-2) by a final of 3-1 from Ravenhill Field on Thursday afternoon.
The Pioneers scored late in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. LIU Post's Charlie Ledula scored his first of three goals on the afternoon in the 41st minute. Neil Feminella played a ball to Nico Anderson, who crossed it to Ledula in the box.
Jefferson senior Seiji Rose evened up the match after the Rams were awarded a penalty kick in the 54th minute. Rose took the kick, but it was saved. Before anybody was able to get in, Rose put the rebound back for the score, 1-1.
Ledula of the Pioneers put the Pioneers back ahead in the 72nd minute when Anderson crossed him a ball in the box, similar to the first goal, 2-1.
Ledula completed his hat trick in the 85th minute after Harry Pearse led him with a pass at midfield. Ledula played it into the left side of the box and scored on the far post, 3-1.
LIU Post led shots 23-16 including shots on goal, 11-8.
Senior keeper Ben Sauer (L, 9-3-1) made eight saves in goal for the Rams across 90 minutes of action.
The loss comes as Jefferson's first since September 12, exactly one month ago. Since that time, the Rams went 8-0-1 before today's loss.

Jefferson Men's Soccer returns to action at home from Ravenhill Field at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 against Bloomfield in a CACC matchup.
