NYACK, N.Y. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's soccer team (3-2, 2-0 CACC) scored five goals in a 5-1 conference win on the road against the Nyack Warriors (1-5, 0-3 CACC) on Saturday afternoon from Moseley Field in Nyack, N.Y.
Though Nyack struck first in the contest, the Rams evened the score before halftime and then notched four goals over the final 45 minutes in the CACC victory.
The Warriors first and only goal came in the 11th minute when Vitor Cositorto scored with an assist from Lucas Honorio.
Senior Jason Rocha found the equalizer in the 32nd minute as he converted a penalty kick, 1-1.
Jefferson then scored three goals from the 61st minutes to the 68th to take a 4-1 edge. Junior Hunter Dyson recorded the Rams' second goal with an assist from Rocha before a Nyack own goal in the 67th put the Rams up two. Less than 90 seconds after the own goal, Rocha converted another penalty kick for his fifth goal of the campaign, 4-1.
Jefferson led shots, 19-8, and corner kicks, 6-2.
Freshman goalkeeper Andrew Menjivar (W, 3-2) made one save on the afternoon across 90 minutes of action.
Jefferson Men's Soccer now continues conference play on the road at Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 4:30 p.m.
