Men’s Soccer Suffers 2OT Loss to Post

PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's soccer team (6-6-1, 5-4-1 CACC) dropped a conference matchup in double overtime to the Post Eagles (6-6-1, 5-2-1 CACC) on Saturday afternoon from Ravenhill Field by a final of 4-3.

Like all conference games, the contest was physical with the added element of wet grass after a morning rain. In total, seven yellow cards were shown throughout the affair.

Sophomore Theophilus Ijeboi scored his third of the campaign on a turnaround shot in the box in the 10th minute to put Jefferson on the board with the early lead, 1-0.

Post evened the score at 1-1 in the 22nd minute before the Eagles grabbed a 2-1 edge in the 33rd minute. Both goals came from Post's Alvaro Sanchez with two assists going to Sergio Diaz.

Jefferson came right back in the 39th minute before taking the 3-2 advantage before halftime in the 40th minute. Junior Rashaan Robe put back a rebound after an initial shot from junior Myles-Jordan Senior-Campbell to tie it up 2-2. Senior Jason Rocha then scored his 12th of the campaign on a header with an assist from junior transfer Charlie Livesey, 3-2, to put Jefferson back on top.

Jefferson led the game, 3-2, shots, 9-7, and corners, 3-2, in the first half.

Post scored the lone goal of the second half in the 61st minute on an unassisted goal. The Eagles found the equalizer after a total of four yellow cards were shown just a minute prior in the 60th minute with three going against Post.

The game went to overtime with the score tied, 3-3.

Post had the best scoring chance in the first overtime period after being awarded a penalty kick in the 96th minute for a Jefferson foul in the box. Post's Sergio Diaz pushed it right, striking the post and giving the Rams another chance.

But the Eagles prevailed in the second overtime period in the 104th minute on a goal from Phillimon Bedard-Kha for the win.

Jefferson was not able to manage a shot in the 13:21 minutes of extra time.

Jefferson goalkeeper Kris Donaldson (L, 3-4-0) made nine saves on the day across 103:21 minutes.
