PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's soccer team released its 2019 schedule on Tuesday. The squad will play 18 games, including 10 at Ravenhill Field.
The men's soccer team will be the first of the Rams' 17 programs to see game action for the 2019-20 academic year when Jefferson hosts West Chester in the season opener on September 5. The Golden Rams advanced all the way to the 2018 national championship game before falling to Barry by a 2-1 score.
Head coach Ptah Myers put together a strong slate that includes five teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament last year, three of which won a tournament game. Out of Jefferson's 18 opponents, 12 qualified for a conference tournament with three finishing as runner-up.
"We are extremely excited about the upcoming season," said Myers. "We have a strong list of opponents that will put our veteran team to the test. With our first four matches being on Ravenhill Field, we are hoping to get off to a good start to set us up for the remainder of the season."
The Rams' four straight home games to start the campaign are followed by the conference opener on the road at Post on September 21. The regular season ends at Ravenhill Field versus Nyack on November 7.
The top eight teams in the conference standings qualify for the CACC Tournament. Quarterfinal games are scheduled for November 11 at campus sites. The semifinals and final will be contested at Post University on November 15 and 17.
Last season, Jefferson posted a 9-8-2 record and finished fourth in the CACC with a 6-4-2 mark. The Rams defeated Concordia (N.Y.), 3-1 in the quarterfinals before falling at Wilmington (Del.), 2-1 in the semifinal round.
Dates, times and opponents are subject to change. Any updates will be posted on the men's soccer schedule page.
