PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's soccer team (0-3) conceded two second half goals and fell to visiting Queens (N.Y.) (2-1), 2-0 on a hot Wednesday afternoon in East Falls.
The teams were practically even in the first half and had minimal chances. The Rams had a 4-3 edge in shots but neither team placed a ball on goal. Each team had one corner kick in the opening 45 minutes.
The Knights quickly got on the board early in the second, pushing one across in the 48th minute off a free kick. Jefferson had opportunities throughout the period, taking seven shots but could not find the mark. Queens kept pressuring and came up with an insurance goal in the 73rd minute on a shot from 30 yards.
- Junior Kris Donaldson and senior Stephen Paul each stopped three shots for the Rams.
- Jefferson had a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.
- The Knights evened up the all-time series against Jefferson and are now 2-2-1 in five meetings.
The Rams wrap up their home stand on Saturday, September 14 when they face East Stroudsburg at 12 p.m.
