Rams defeat Adelphi, 7-2; Sgouros wins 100th dual match

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Manoli Sgouros became the eighth Philadelphia University tennis player to win 100 dual matches and helped the Rams defeat visiting Adelphi University, 7-2, in a non-conference match Sunday afternoon in the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center.

Sgouros— the third men's tennis player to eclipse the century mark in wins at the University— won his No. 2 singles match over Chiwete Njokanma, 7-5, 6-2, and paired up with Kyle Burke in the No. 1 doubles flight to take out Andreas Hammer and Adrish Tewarie, 8-6.

In the other doubles victory for Philadelphia (2-4) came from the No. 2 pairing of Ryan Christopher and Adrian Torroella-Cruz, 8-2 over Bryan Kallenberg and Ryan Villarruel.

Torroella-Cruz (No. 1), Burke (No. 3), Christopher (No. 4) and Eric Guerrero (No. 5) were all victorious in their respective singles' match.

Philadelphia welcomes NYIT to the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center for a non-conference tilt Sunday, March 4 at 4:30 p.m.
