Men's tennis falls to Chestnut Hill 7-2

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team was defeated 7-2 by host Chestnut Hill in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Wednesday afternoon.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Celso de Vera Rehberger (Oviedo, Spain/Santa Maria del Naranco) and Luis Molina Megias (Gran Canaria, Spain/Atlantic School Garoe) needed a tiebreak to get the Rams on the board and record its third win of the season, 9-8 (7-4) over Jonathan Ducretot and Pierre Kohler.

Philadelphia's No. 3 team of Juan Velosa (Bogota, Columbia/Gimnasio Campestre San Rafael) and Ryan Schaffer (Audubon, N.J./Audubon) nearly gave the Rams a 2-1 lead in their first match together, but fell just short against Kevin Taylor and Henry Boyle, 9-7.

The Rams' second point came after de Vera Rehberger claimed the No. 1 match when Lucas Bocaletto was forced to retire. De Vera Rehberger—who notched his fifth singles win of the season—was leading 6-4, 2-1 at the time of the retirement.

Philadelphia (4-9, 1-1 CACC) welcomes Post to campus for a CACC match on Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m.
