Men’s tennis swept by No. 15 Concordia (N.Y.)

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team was defeated 9-0 by 15th-ranked Concordia (N.Y.) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Tuesday afternoon at the Legacy Youth Tennis Center.

In their first match together as a No. 1 doubles team, Sean DiBlasio (Livingston, Texas/Livingston) and James Pollard (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) pushed the region's top tandem of Jui Mao and Ofir Ginat to the edge before falling 8-6. The Clippers (7-4, 3-0 CACC) won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches by a score of 8-3.

Celso de Vera Rehberger (Oviedo, Spain/Santa Maria del Naranco) gave Mao, the region's top singles player, a solid fight in the No. 1 singles fight, but was defeated in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2). At No. 2, Luis Molina Megias (Gran Canaria, Spain/Atlantic School Garoe) was defeated by the fourth-ranked player in the East Region Lorenzo Montegiorgi, 6-3, 6-2.

Pollard and Ginat met again at No. 5 singles with Ginat pulling out a 6-0, 6-2 win. Maxton Cook picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Ryan Schaffer (Audubon, N.J./Audubon) 6-1, 6-0. Rafael Ferreira and Luca Corigliano were 6-0, 6-0 winners at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.

Philadelphia (5-10, 2-2 CACC) heads to Cabrini for a non-conference tilt on Wednesday, April 13 at 3:30 p.m.
