Men’s tennis rolls to 9-0 win over Salem International

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team recorded its third win in the last four matches after knocking off visiting Salem International, 9-0, in a non-conference match in the Legacy Youth Tennis Center.

Sean DiBlasio (Livingston, Texas/Livingston) and Jacobo Atri (Mexico City, Mexico/Colegio Hebreo Monte Sinai, AC) got the Rams (5-4) off to a fast start as they teamed up to defeat Nick Milush and Antonio Shaw 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles match. Luis Molina Megias (Gran Canaria, Spain/Atlantic School Garoe) and Oskar Haedicke (Iserlohn, Germany/Gymnasium An der Stenner Iserlohn) picked up their fourth win of the spring with an 8-2 win against Lando Schultz-Zwahr and Christian Manalang at No. 1 doubles. Livui Trifoi (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) and Joseph Sison (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) claimed the No. 2 doubles match 8-6 over Eugene Bour and Jose Martinez to complete the doubles sweep.

Atri, Juan Velosa (Bogota, Columbia/Gimnasio Campestre San Rafael), and James Pollard (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) were all 6-0, 6-0 winners in singles play. Atri earned his win at No. 3, while Velosa was victorious at No. 5, and Pollard won the No. 6 flight.

Haedicke improved to 9-0 this season with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph in the No. 1 singles match against Schultz-Zwahr. He is 2-0 in the No. 1 flight. Trifoi took down Manalang at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Sison defeated Bour in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0.

Philadelphia will look for its third straight win when Cabrini comes to campus for a non-conference match on Tuesday, April 4 at 3 p.m.
