Two Men Run at Swarthmore Final Qualifier Meet on Monday, Duka Breaks Record

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Graduate transfer Milan Duka and junior Valmar Wilson of the Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's track program ran at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier Meet on Monday evening. Duka finished 39th of 95 competitors with a time of 15:13.37 in the 5000m to break the school record. Wilson recorded a personal best of 1:59.43 in the 800m, breaking the 2-minute mark for the first time.

Wilson went off in heat three of the 800m. Overall he finished 54th of 82.

Duka ran in heat two of three which went off a little after 10 p.m. on Monday night. The automatic qualifying time for the DII NCAA Championships in the 5000m is 13:56.89 with a provisional time of 14:34.89. His time of 15:13.37 was the fastest in school history, besting John Marble's time of 15:15.64 set in 1978.
