Men’s cross country claims 15th at Division II Challenge

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Philadelphia University men's cross country team posted a 15th-place finish in the Division II Challenge hosted at Kutztown University Saturday morning.

The Rams had a team score of 423 in the 19-team field.

Sergei Cendo (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) was Philadelphia's fastest runner for the second time this season after finishing Saturday's 8-kilometer course in a time of 27 minutes, 52.8 seconds. Cendo was 58th out of 217 runners.

Ethan Fadale (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) turned in the 64th-time of 28:00.8, while Zachary Samalonis (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Red.) came in 81st with a time of 28:42.6. Jake Wong's (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) time of 30.31.4 placed him in 106th. The final scoring position belonged to Greg Dawson (Springfield, Pa./Friends Central), who finished the race in 31:12.4 to end up 114th.

Charles Griffin (Staten Island, N.Y./McKee) crossed the finish line in 32:02.4 to place 117th. Shane Fleming (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) was the 118th-place finisher with a time of 33:07.3

Mount Olive, led by race winner Adam Craig's time of 25:15.4, won the team title with 47 points. Shippensburg took second with 67 points and Lock Haven claimed third with 70 points.

Philadelphia returns to action at the Osprey Open in Pomona, N.J. on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m.
