PHILADELPHIA – Graduate transfer Milan Duka of the Jefferson men's cross country team won the 2017 Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship by almost a whole minute as the team earned first place at the Belmont Plateau event on Saturday afternoon.
Duka grabbed first place with a time of 27:09.2 (5:27.7 pace) in the 8k race, beating the next closest competitor by 47 seconds. That next closest competitor was teammate junior Sergei Cendo at 27:56.3 (5:37.2 pace). The top two finishes helped the Rams capture first place.
Junior Ethan Fadale was the third Ram to cross the finish, coming in fifth at 28:19.7 (5:41.9 pace).
Freshman Ben Nardi finished 15th individually with a time of 29:21.0 (5:54.2 pace).
Junior Valmar Wilson rounded out the top-five Jefferson finished when he finished at 30:01.5 (6:02.4 pace) for 20th individually.
The Rams run on Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Delaware Invitational at White Clay Creek Park in Newark, Del. next weekend.
