PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's cross country team captured the 2017 CACC Championship in its fall season.

After winning conference championships in 2009 and 2014, the men won its third conference title since joining the CACC. Three Rams finished in the top-15 at this year's championship from White Clay Creek Park in Newark, Del. on Sunday, Oct. 22. Junior Sergei Cendo was the first from Jefferson to cross the finish for second-place overall with a time of 26:53.7 (5:25 pace). Graduate transfer Milan Duka finished fourth overall with a time of 27:31.2 (5:32 pace). Junior Ethan Fadale rounded out the top-15 finishers, coming in 15th overall, with a time of 27:58.7 (5:38 pace).
For their top-15 finishes as the CACC Championship, Cendo, Duka and Fadale earned All-CACC recognition.
RUNNER SPOTLIGHT – MILAN DUKA
Graduate transfer Milan Duka had a stellar fall campaign with the Rams in 2017. In the seven meets before the conference championship, Duka finished in either first, second or third place in every single one. He was the medalist at the Philadelphia Metro Championship on Sept. 9 and the Delaware Invitational on Sept. 16. He took second at the DelVal Invitational (Sept. 2), Osprey Open (Sept. 23) and Jack Saint Clair Championship (Oct. 7). Following the CACC Championship, the graduate student competed at the NCAA DII East Region Championships, finishing 12th of 159 runners to achieve NCAA All-Region honors from USTFCCCA. He was the highest finisher ever at the meet for a Philadelphia/Jefferson runner since the school added the cross country program in 2005. Duka missed making the NCAA national championships by about 25 seconds behind the last individual qualifier.
