PHILADELPHIA – Head Coach Dave Thomas announced the 2019 schedule for the Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's and women's cross country teams on Tuesday.
The Rams will run at their home course, Belmont Plateau, four times during the season, acting as the host institution for three of those meets. The highlight of the campaign is the NCAA East Region Championships at Belmont, which Jefferson is hosting for the first time in over three decades.
"I look forward to another season as both teams aim to improve upon last year," said Thomas. "For a change, we may see a preview of the teams from the East Region, as they come to Belmont Plateau to see the course that they will be running at the regional championship. We will face stiff competition at the Kutztown Division II/III Challenge and Paul Short Run. We should know by these meets how we are developing as we prepare to be at our best for the CACC and East Region Championships."
The cross country teams open the year with the Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship on September 7. The teams also host the Jack Saint Clair Memorial on October 12. The CACC Championships will be contested at Belmont Plateau on October 27. The Rams welcome teams from the CACC, Northeast-10 and ECC for the NCAA East Region Championships on November 9.
Last season, the Jefferson women claimed their fifth straight CACC title and 10th in 11 years while the men placed third. The teams went on to finish 10th and 11th respectively at the regional championship.
Dates, times and meets are subject to change. Any updates will be posted on the men's and women's cross country schedule pages.
