NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After picking up four victories over the last seven days, Philadelphia University sophomore Naomi Stas (Tuckerton, N.J./Pinelands Regional) was named as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) softball pitcher of the week Monday.

Stas is the first Ram to win the conference's pitcher of the week award since Ali Schmidt earned the honor on April 26, 2010. Last week, Stas went 4-0 with a 0.88 earned run average (ERA) and struck out 12 batters in 24.0 innings of work. Against the CACC, she recorded two victories, a 0.47 ERA, and three strikeouts.

She threw a complete-game three-hitter to lead Philadelphia to a 1-0 conference victory at Wilmington (Del.) on March 21 to open the wee. Against Molloy on March 24, Stas pitched 2.0 innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits in a 9-1 victory. Stas surrendered one run on two hits and fanned three Clippers in 8.0 innings as the Rams knocked off Concordia (N.Y.), 2-1., on March 25. She finished the week with a season-high nine strikeouts in seven innings and allowed one run on four hits in Philadelphia's 2-1 win at West Chester on March 26.

This season, Stas is 5-2 with a 1.34 ERA and has 31 strikeouts in 57.1 innings. She is ranked fourth in the CACC in ERA, wins, and complete games (4); sixth in innings pitched, strikeouts, and opponent batting average (.229); and 12th in strikeouts per game (3.78). At the plate, Stas is hitting .343 and sits fourth in the conference with 24 base hits.

Philadelphia (8-11, 3-1 CACC) returns to action with a non-conference doubleheader against East Stroudsburg on Tuesday, March 28 at 2:30 p.m.
