Jefferson Introduces Mike Fegeley as Head Softball Coach

PHILADELPHIA – Assistant Vice President of Athletics Tom Shirley announced the hiring of Mike Fegeley as the Jefferson Softball Head Coach on Tuesday afternoon.

"We are excited to introduce Mike to lead the softball program as we enter a new era as the Jefferson Rams," said Shirley. "His college coaching experience along with his local softball ties as a high school and travel coach make him an important piece to our program moving forward."

Fegeley comes to Jefferson after spending six years as an assistant softball coach at La Salle University in Philadelphia. There he assisted in all aspects of the game while serving as the bench coach during games. He coordinated team equipment while traveling and organized all indoor and outdoor practice schedules. Fegeley supported the development of his student-athletes both inside the classroom and on the field as the Explorers earned conference postseason bids in both 2014 and 2015.

"I am excited and very much looking forward to being the head coach at Jefferson after consulting with Coach Cooper about last year's team and how much fun they were to be around," said Fegeley. "I am really looking forward to this opportunity with the Rams."

In addition to his six years of collegiate coaching experience, Fegeley served as a high school coach and travel ball coach for the better part of two decades.  He was part of the softball program at Cheltenham High School from 1992 to 2011. Fegeley started as the junior varsity head coach before making his way to assistant varsity coach in 1998. From 2004 to 2011, Fegeley headed the varsity program.

He was also the head coach of the Blazing Angels 18U Gold travel ball team from 2003 to 2010 after joining the team as an assistant in 2002. With the Blazing Angels, he managed a four-person coaching staff and assisted players in the college recruitment process, acting as a liaison between players and college coaches.

Prior to coaching the Blazing Angels, he was the head coach of the Bristol Force 16/18U team from 1997 to 2000 after coaching the Philadelphia Spirit 12/14U from 1994 to 1997.
