Softball Adds Mackenzie Obert as Assistant Coach

PHILADELPHIA – First-year Head Coach Mike Fegeley of the Jefferson Softball program announced the hiring of Mackenzie Obert as an assistant coach. She joins Fegeley's staff along with fellow assistant coach Phil Juliano for the upcoming 2018 spring season.

"I coached Mackenzie during my years at La Salle," said Fegeley, who was an assistant at La Salle University for six years prior to being named the head coach at Jefferson in August 2017. "She is a role model on and off the field and will help us get better in every facet of the game. We are excited to have her on board as we prepare for spring."

Obert comes to Jefferson from La Salle where she was a three-year starter on the Explorers' softball team from 2015-17. She appeared in 126 games with 120 career starts for the Explorers in her sophomore, junior and senior campaigns. She played softball at Hartford as a freshman, starting all 38 games for the Hawks in 2014 before transferring.

"I am beyond excited for the season to begin," said Obert. "Coming fresh off the field, I feel as though I have a lot to give back to the girls and the sport. I cannot wait to get started on becoming a cohesive unit and getting better together. We have a lot of potential for greatness and I believe with hard work, we will get back to the conference tournament."

Obert earned her bachelor's degree in biology, graduating from La Salle is the spring of 2017.

She is a native of Fairless Hills, Pa.
