LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) softball team (17-23) saw its 2018 season end on Thursday afternoon at the CACC Tournament from Georgian Court University with a loss to the No. 4-seeded Dominican Chargers (23-19). The Rams lost earlier in the day to No. 1-seeded Caldwell.
Jefferson fell behind early in the afternoon contest as Dominican put up six runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Chargers added another in the second to go up 7-0.
The Rams' bats came alive in the third inning as the squad managed four runs to cut the deficit to three, 7-4. Sophomore Madison Heno singled to leadoff the inning before senior Erica D'Angelo, playing in her final game, drew a walk. Sophomore Breck Urban then hit an RBI double to the gap to score one. Fellow sophomore Jovanna Alfonsi then came up with two on and smashed a three-run home run to make the score, 7-4, as she forced a Dominican pitching change.
Dominican relief pitcher Jennifer Paride settled in as the long reliever, only allowing three Jefferson hits over the last five innings.
Emily Bradely started the game for Jefferson but only last one inning before being replaced by junior Stephanie Pepper, who threw the final five innings.

Losses to No. 1-seeded Caldwell and No. 4-seeded Dominican on Thursday ended No. 8-seeded Jefferson's time at the double-elimination 2018 CACC Tournament from Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J. The Rams went 17-23 overall this spring.
