Softball Splits a Pair of Games In the Sunshine State

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) softball team (4-2) split a pair of games during its second day at the Spring Games on Saturday. The Rams dropped the opener to Bridgeport, 7-3 but came back to defeat St. Cloud St., 2-1.

GAME ONE – L, 7-3 vs. Bridgeport

Senior Courtney Wensel reached on a miscue and scored on a groundout.

Bridgeport tied the game in the fourth thanks to an error and an RBI double. The Purple Knights went ahead in the fifth with a run-scoring single and had a chance for more but stranded runners at second and third.

However, Bridgeport pushed across the decisive runs in the bottom of the frame, putting four on the board. One run scored on an error, another touched the plate on a wild pitch and two rounded the bases on a triple. The Purple Knights retired the Rams in order in the seventh to finish off the win.
