Softball Plays Felician to Doubleheader Split on Saturday

LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) softball team (14-18, 9-9 CACC) took the opener, 12-8 but dropped the second game, 8-0 in five innings at Felician (12-25, 8-10 CACC) in a conference doubleheader on Saturday.

GAME ONE – W, 12-8
The Rams got on the board first in the second inning on senior Naomi Stas's RBI single. They increased the lead to 5-0 with a four-run third. Senior Erin Maher scored on an error, junior Emily Williams recorded a sacrifice fly, senior Stephanie Pepper doubled in a run and Stas hit another RBI single.

The Golden Falcons cut the deficit to three with a two-run homer in the bottom of the third. They made the score 5-3 in the fourth on a wild pitch.

Jefferson put up three runs in the fifth. Junior Katelyn Stys drove in two runs with a base hit to right and Maher's base hit plated Stas. The Rams broke the game open with four runs in the sixth to make it 12-3. Junior Breck Urban blasted a two-run homer, freshman Dallas Urban singled in a run before scoring on a wild pitch.

Felician responded with five runs in the bottom half to get back into it but could not catch up as Jefferson finished off the win.

The Golden Falcons jumped on the Rams for one run in the first, one in the second, one in the third, fourth in the fourth and one in the fifth to end the game early with the eight-run rule.

Jefferson had a runner in scoring position in each inning but could not push a run across. Two Rams' baserunners were thrown out at the plate.
