PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) softball team (15-21, 10-10 CACC) went 1-1 against city rival Holy Family (4-36, 4-16 CACC) on Thursday. The Tigers claimed game one, 5-1 before the Rams had a 7-0 shutout win in the nightcap.
GAME ONE – L, 5-1
Jefferson struck first, capitalizing on an error in the second for a 1-0 lead. Holy Family evened the score in the third on an RBI single.
The Tigers gained the advantage in the fourth with a pair of home runs and they had a 4-1 lead. HFU tacked on an insurance run with an RBI single in the fifth.
The Rams had an opportunity to cut into the deficit in the sixth, putting the first two runners on base. However, a double play and a groundout thwarted the chance.
Junior Madison Heno smacked a solo homer in the fourth and scored on a fielder's choice in the sixth for the last two runs.
Meanwhile, Stas was locked in in the pitching circle, conceding just two hits to the Tigers. She walked one and struck out four in the complete game shutout. Stas retired 14 batters in a row at one point.

CACC PLAYOFF PICTURE
The Rams are in sixth place in the CACC with six games to go in the regular season. The top eight teams qualify for the conference tournament. Georgian Court, Wilmington (Del.) and Caldwell have all locked up spots in the CACC tourney. Jefferson's remaining schedule includes Georgian Court and two teams currently on the outside looking in, Concordia (N.Y.) and Post.
